The Big Lebowski
Jeff Bridges stars as Jeffery Lebowski (or as he prefers to be known, “The Dude”), a burnout who just wants a new rug after some thugs break into his apartment and pee on it because they mixed him up with another Jeffery Lebowski who owes their boss money. Upon visiting the the “real” Jeff Lebowski he becomes mixed up in a situation involving kidnapping, nihilists and a ferret in his bathtub.
Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas
The classic adaptation of Terry Gilliam and the Thompson classic almost presupposes you’re going to come to it high. The plot is simple and inconsequential to your enjoyment: two guys head to Vegas with a briefcase filled with a lot of drugs. I mean a lot, as if someone were throwing an acid test for a family of bears. It’s a ton of fun to watch while high, because no matter how stupid you make yourself, you’ll have a hard time ever looking more ridiculous or embarrassing than the guys on screen (at least they’re in Vegas). In that sense, it’s almost comforting. A word of caution though: do not, under any circumstances, attempt to “keep up” with the protagonists.
Donnie Darko
Jake Gyllenhaal albeit really cute, his name itself gets you high as it’s spelled really weird. In addition, there are lots of freaky mutants like evil bunnies, mystical worlds and a giant black cloud. If that doesn’t get you in the mood.
Pineapple Express
This movie is about a couple of stoners who find themselves tangled up in a violent conspiracy, starring Seth Rogen. His character buys some super rare stuff called pineapple express from his dealer and witnesses a murder afterwards. Running away in panic, he leaves a roach of the stuff at the murder scene which allows the villains to track him through Franco’s character. What follows is pure action packed comedy.
Dazed And Confused
Richard Linklater created this 70s period piece which is a masterful work of cinema, and it’s made all the better because of joints – lots and lots of joints. You’re transported back to a time when fucking the establishment was as simple as saying the word “fuck”. Dazed and Confused is a gem to watch high because it glamorizes the drug’s countercultural flare. Randall “Pink” Floyd makes pot smoking seem not only cool, but downright virtuous.
